The LIN DYNASTY
Last night, I rewatched videos of Jeremy Lin highlights. Admittedly, he made me his instant fan. So I am here writing about Jeremy Lin also though I knew a lot of stories had been written about him already. Let me share mine and take note of all the words associated with his surname “Lin.”
Lin has BALL-LIN.
Jeremy Lin is an American-Asian with Taiwanese origin. It is a fact that discrimination still exists. He just proved those who do not believe in him wrong. He showed the basketball world what he got. Basketball is for everyone. He has BALL-LIN and he will keep BALL-IN.
Lin can go LINsane.
Lin was undrafted. He graduated from Harvard University. So, some have called him lately, The HARVARD AIR. He went to the Summer League before playing in the Develepment League. Now, he is with the New York Knicks. This guy had gone through obstacles to reach Madison Square Garden , one the most historic arena, he conquered now.
Lin does not usually start in the point guard position for the New York Knicks. But when he does and plays, Lin can go LINsane. He dropped 25 points against the Washington Wizards. He dropped 38 points against the Lakers. He outscored Kobe Bryant 38-31. He scored 20 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He led the Knicks to their fifth straight win without Carmelo Anthony.
Lin set an atmosphere of LINsanity in the NBA and the world.
Placards and T-Shirts with different words and phrases coined after Jeremy Lin’s name emerged. Here are some of them;
- We want J-Lin
- All I do is LIN
- LIN-Demonium
- The Yellow Mamba
- Legend in New York
The crowd is shouting Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy everytime he touches the ball. Everytime he scores, the fans get off from their feet. Everybody just go into frenzy with this kid. If Lin were given a chance to play more minutes earlier in the season, this kid could have been an All-Star. If he can be consistent. He can be a Rookie of the Year also. He was an instant celebrity.
Before this LINSANITY, Lin was deeply worried about his future, career and security. He just slept at the couch of his brother’s apartment. Thanks for the chance that he was able to showcase his talent. He was guaranteed a contract by the New York Knicks. He is marketable now because he is already a star.
Let us not forget also the handshake of Jeremy Lin and Landry Fields which I coined LIN-FIELDS Ritual. What they do? Reading book, putting on eyeglasses and pocket protector.
Notable also is the gesture of respect between Carmelo Anthony and Jeremy Lin. They bow to each other with hands positioned like a martial artist. The gesture is typical among East Asian countries like Taiwan. It’s a gesture of appreciation by Carmelo Anthony saying HAI to Master Lin.
Lin can do the LIN-POSSIBLE shots and spectacular plays.
See his impressive crossover against Washington Wizards’ star John Wall. I would love to call it the LINning CROSSOVER as he finished the play with a LINning SLAM.
Take note also of Lin’s spectacular spin move against Derek Fisher of the Los Angeles Lakers. Others have dubbed it “THE LIN CYCLE.”
LIN-POSSIBLE also because he is actually inconsistent in shooting. Yet, in recent games, he showed massive display of shooting artillert beyond the arc, in perimeter jumpers and free throws. With his size, he can drive to the hoops against big defenders and feed his teammates with his impressive court vision.
Lin is the CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN POINT GUARD of the NEW YORK LINSANITY.
It reminded me of the Los Angeles Clippers dubbed as the Lobs Angeles. New York Knicks has its own pride. From now on it will be New York Linsanity.
Not even Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler has brought energy to the Knicks despite of their star status. It was Jeremy Lin who rejuvenated the team and the fans of New York. Lin ignited and sparked the team conveying that it is not too late to make the charge and give Knicks’ fans something to look forward to in the play-offs. Fingers crossed, I hope when Anthony returns, Lin could still play his game and continue to blend with the rest in what could be an electrifying offense.
Who would expect Jeremy Lin to come out strong like this? Not even in our thoughts and imaginations. But we saw it happened and unfold in our very eyes. We were witnesses and we have to believe.
And so, since the Yao Ming Dynasty was over in the NBA, it’s time to embrace the LIN Dynasty this time.
