FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. SOUR to JEREMY LIN?
Undefeated American boxer and current WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. tweeted about Jeremy Lin.
“Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he’s Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don’t get the same praise.”
Floyd Mayweather Jr. appeared to have tweeted for the good cause, that all players should be given the same praise . We just don’t know what is really at the back of his mind. The tweet might just be a guise to discriminate Asians indirectly. Or he just want to partake and ride on with the Jeremy Lin show? Or simply he is just sour about the attention Jeremy Lin has and he just want some attention also?
Floyd must know that the NBA is dominated by black players. He may have forgotten Michael Jordan. He may not have heard about Kobe Bryant or LeBron James. They are just three of the many black players to grace the NBA with so much talent and that they were well acknowledged in the sport, praised and loved and even criticized by many.
Yes, Jeremy Lin is Asian. He is an American-Asian to be clear on that and he has Taiwanese roots. Obviously, NBA is dominated by US Americans and they have lots of superstars in the game. North and South Americans, Australians and particularly Europeans have great players who made their presence felt in the NBA.
But there are only few Asians who made a loud noise in the NBA. One is Yao Ming. Now, it’s Jeremy Lin. It cannot be blamed then that Jeremy Lin received such hype because it is rare. It is rare to have Asians standout in the NBA.
Addendum, Asians are almost always discriminated. Asians can relate to the story of Jeremy Lin. With his explosion in the NBA, he became an inspiration not only to Asians but to all. No wonder, LINSANITY spread across America, Asia and the world.
Unfortunately, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been discriminating Asians. Particularly, he had fired racist, discriminatory and defaming videos and statements against rival Asian boxing superstar, the eight division world champion and the current WBO welterweight champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.
Perhaps Asians hope the fight will happen so that the world will see Floyd Mayweather Jr. whipped and knocked out by an Asian, Manny Pacquiao.
It is the Charisma. Jeremy Lin has the charisma. That is why he is loved by the basketball world. That charisma is called LINSANITY. Floyd Mayweather Jr. sad to say has no charisma.
It’s the fruit of hardwork. Jeremy Lin played and graduated at Harvard. Jeremy Lin played in the Summer League. He also went to the Development League. He was undrafted. He has no permanent team from Golden State, Houston, Dallas and now in New York. He is a bench player. He has no guaranteed contract. He was worried about his career security.
But now he is star. With Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire out, he was given a chance to play with more minutes. We did not know it was the most awaited break in his career. Bang! Jeremy Lin exploded. He led the Knicks to 5 straight wins. Notable is his 38 points against the Lakers. He made spectacular plays. He had broken franchise and NBA records.
Teams and coaches who disposed him regretted. Now he was guaranteed a contract by the Knicks for a year where he is almost hours away from being cut in the roster. God intervened. Who would not be LINSANE because Jeremy Lin just came out of nowhere and stormed the NBA floor?
Even basketball stars like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Steve Nash, Tyson Chandler and a lot more gave praise and credit to Jeremy Lin for the hardwork.
Why cant Floyd? Jeremy Lin must be credited not just because he is Asian but because of the hardwork. He deserved the hype.
