PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER tweet fight over JEREMY LIN
Jeremy Lin stormed the NBA by surprise leading the New York Knicks to 6 straight wins. LINSANITY continued to spread throughout the basketball community and the world involving some of the most famous sports icons.
Undefeated American and WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. posted on twitter:
“Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he’s Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don’t get the same praise.”
Mayweather has drawn a lot of criticism over his tweet which others view as somewhat negative, racist and without appreciation to Jeremy Lin. Somehow the tweet may be viewed also as an indirect jab to his archrival Manny Pacquiao.
The following day, WBO welterweight and eight division champion, Manny Pacquiao tweeted.
“God bless, Jeremy Lin.”
Pacquiao’s tweet was louded by everybody for the support, love and appreciation to Jeremy Lin and the sports of basketball.
Pacquiao is an Asian, a Filipino and the archrival of Mayweather. Pacquiao’s tweet is a defense to Jeremy Lin and at the same time an indirect response to Mayweather’s tweet.
Both fighters have officially joined the Jeremy Lin Show. Pacquiao is the loved protagonist and Mayweather is the hated antagonist.
Unfortunately, both boxers battle each other on twitter and not in the boxing ring. It is still my hope that the most lucrative megafight in boxing history will happen in November.
Mayweather will challenge WBO superwelterweight champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico on Cinco de Mayo while Pacquiao will defend his WBO welterweight title against undefeated and junior welterweight champ Timothy Bradley on June 9, 2012.
Jeremy Lin is indeed for real, getting even the attention of the bests and the greatests in the sporting world like Pacquiao and Mayweather.
